A minute after trading took off on the New York stock exchange, the Nasdaq index has risen 0.6 percent and stands at 14,373.37 points, while the Dow Jones rises 0.2 percent to 35,472.03 points. The S&P 500 rose 0.4 percent to 4,574.52 points.
The ten-year US government bond yield is at 4.29 per cent, while the VIX index, also called the fear index, falls 0.9 per cent to 12.58.
At 20:00, the Fed’s Beige Book is published, which provides anecdotal information about economic developments within the 12 different Fed districts.
“In the hard macro data that we have received so far, it appears that the US labor market is cooling somewhat more at the same time as inflation is slowing. The Beige Book can provide further information on how the different districts experience the labor market and growth prospects,” writes Handelsbanken in an update.
American GDP rose 5.2 percent from the second to the third quarter, according to revised figures released by the US statistics authorities on Wednesday. This is up from the preliminary figure which suggested 4.9 per cent growth, but also the consensus which pointed towards 5.0 per cent growth, according to Trading Economics. Today’s figures mark the strongest quarterly growth since the fourth quarter of 2021.
