Who can make a vaccination appointment on the cantonal website VacMe want to book, you may have to click through some vaccination sites until a free date is displayed. An effort that can sometimes take some time.
A 26-year-old programmer from Germany who has lived in Zurich for three years has recognized this problem. So he created a website that aims to bring order to the chaos. The Rimpfli-Web-App shows you all locations in Zurich and Bern where appointments can still be booked and when the next possible free appointment is.
The 26-year-old actually only created the website for himself out of technical curiosity, he told the «Daily indicator». He wrote a program that automatically clicks its way through the VacMe vaccination portal and collects the necessary information. Programming only cost him a weekend. Since then, he has continued to refine the app.
“At first I programmed it just for myself, then I showed it to my colleagues in the office,” he told the Tages-Anzeiger. “The feedback was good, so I decided to make the tool available to everyone.” His website receives between 2500 and 3500 hits every day.
