Straight through the Low Countries wins the Golden Televizier Circle

Right through the low countries won the Golden Televizier Ring 2024. The VPRO program received 55 percent of the votes from the Dutch public.

The other two were mentioned B&B Full of love (RTL 4) en Thinking of Holland (Broadcaster MAX). The Televizier Rings were presented at the 59th edition of the Golden Televizier Ring Gala at the Royal Theater Carré.

In Right through the low countries Belgian Arnout Hauben travels on foot through Holland and Belgium with his friends Ruben Callens and Philippe Niclaes. From Lauwersoog they walk to the southernmost coastal town of De Panne in Belgium. “Thank you to the Netherlands, from all Belgians from the bottom of our hearts. We are very proud, tonight we are Amsterdammers,” said Arnout Hauben.

Tim Hofman won Presentator Televizier-Ring for the third time in his career. Frank Lammers became the “Dutch acting champion for the second time” and took home the Televizier-Ring Actor.

Jewish Council the ring won in the Victory category. Actress Claire Bender accepted the award Jewish Council in receipt. “Even in these times, people want to be open to new perspectives and want to understand each other’s stories. Maybe that softness doesn’t come up much now, but the comments in this series prove it’s there.”

Actor, actor, singer and presenter André van Duin received the Televizier Oeuvre-Ring. Yesterday it was announced that he would get it. The award for “television personalities who have had an indelible impact on the Dutch public” was given for the fifth time in history. He was preceded by Willem Duys, Mies Bouwman, Linda de Mol and Ivo Niehe.

“Sixty years is an awfully long time, who should you thank? ” Van Duin then said. However, he made an effort and quickly announced a surprising number of programs and collaborators. “I would like to thank the people I worked with for their friendship. And the viewers at home: without you it would all be meaningless.”

The television awards have been given since 1964. Initially there was one award, which went to a television program or TV personality. The public was allowed to vote for this. Over the years, more categories were gradually added. The newest category is the Televizier-Ring Effect, which has only existed since 2022.

This year too, people could vote in advance for their favorite programme, actor or presenter. When the gala was broadcast, it was only possible to vote for the three candidates for the Golden Televizier Ring.
