Stoyanov: The Bulgarian army is ready – Bulgaria

“I want to assure you that there is no request from the Polish side regarding the holding of Article 4 consultations and none have been held. There is no reason to think about Article 5. I do not expect a threat to our security national”.

This was stated by the interim defense minister, Dimitar Stoyanov, after the extraordinary meeting of the defense and foreign policy committees of the parliament held today, reported BGNES.

Two parliamentary committees, the ministers of defense and foreign affairs, together with the heads of services, met in an emergency meeting after the incident with the missiles that fell on the territory of Poland.

“The main version under consideration is an accident,” Dimitar Stoyanov explained about what happened in Poland.

The interim defense minister indicated that nothing is currently expected to happen on our territory or in another allied country.

“The Bulgarian Armed Forces continue to be on alert, as they have been since January 24,” Stoyanov said, but declined to share any further information and described it as confidential.

He explained that he did not see any concern among the deputies and added that they just wanted to be informed about the current situation.
