The needle begins to release the ink, every second, every minute are the same as the sight of Tania mendez used to trace the tattoo; his hand is safe, steady and he knows this is his thing, Tattooing is the gift he has, of expressing the ideas and designs that his clients request and for which he has a work schedule with many appointments.
In this International Tattoo Day, which is celebrated every July 17, Tania talks about how she came to discover this passion she has for tattooing, for becoming a woman who faces her own fears and shows it in every job that she proudly shows on social networks, although she says, to be a tattoo artist you must believe it.
At almost 30 years old, Tania has 36 tattoos on her body canvas, the same that she has collected over nine years, during which time she has been behind the chair and knows what it is to get a tattoo, which has worked for her. be able to give confidence and peace of mind to your clients who are facing the fear of pain from getting one, two, three tattoos.
“At 21 I did the first one, my mother took me to a study. I wore an earring in my navel, in my nose and he told me that he no longer wanted to see them, so he paid for my first tattoo, I did it, although in the end I only took off the art of the nose, “he remembers smiling, while showing the first Tattoo that was made, a small bird accompanied with the initial of his mother’s name.
“Two years later they invited me to be an assistant to a tattoo artist, so I said yes and spent the whole day there, I loved it and I fell in love with the world of tattoos, although I never thought I was going to become a tattoo artist, I was studying communication ”, he explains.
It took a few years for him to question himself about his life, his future and his path, “so I wanted to know what I was going to do,” so he doubted at some point if he could get tattoos, “until I believed in myself and I decided to dedicate myself to this, I love this world, I love seeing the faces of my clients’ satisfaction, so here I am ”.
It was a year and seven months ago that he took on the task of setting up his own studio, he tattooed the strength and belief that he could do it and now, he has a list of clients who know of his work, of the simplicity of his person, the tranquility he transmits and the patience he has for his clients, especially when it is the first time they get a tattoo.
“I have the security for the time that I have been tattooing, but I know that I must learn more, there is a way to go and although I have my favorite tattoos that I have always done, there is always that little thorn of the lesson, it could have been better, I could have done this better, that my technique is perfect.
“Even if it’s realism, whether it’s something very big or small, there’s always that adrenaline rush that I want to make it look good,” he explains.
Now his studio that has some iconic figures from Star Wars and what is in social networks like Tanya Méndez on Instagram as @studio_tatooline, receives clients from all over Pachuca, Mineral de la Reforma and other municipalitiess, and it has created confidence in women who are looking for a woman to do a special job for them.
“I have not suffered discrimination, on the contrary, there are many girls who write to me because it gives them more confidence that I tattooed a woman, and there have been two cases of men who have asked me out, but I always set limits because I am a professional,” he says. .
After years of knowing this world, of drawing lines, figures, drawings, she has anecdotes to tell, especially of her memories when she got her tattoos, “I am always very loud”, so she understands and has patience with those clients who suffer of this same reaction; He also gives tattoos time to be perfect, especially when it comes to realism tattoos, but he knows that in every job he does the love, affection and passion he has for tattoos is reflected, that my life took a turn and now they are part of my life, they are also tattooed on me ”, he concluded.
