Stormy rain: Bouches-du-Rhône and Vaucluse on yellow warning from Sunday night to Monday

The weather is getting bad in Provence. After the passage on a warning song of the Gard and Hérault regions on Sunday September 22, it is the turn of Bouches-du-Rhône and Vaucluse to change from green to yellow. And for good reason, heavy stormy rain is expected in the middle of the night from Sunday to Monday.

According to the Aix-en-Provence branch of Météo-France, the depression will develop from the end of the day. The wet and stormy program will come from the west of Bouches-du-Rhône and slowly move east to reach the Var and the Alpes-Maritimes at the end of the night.

Inside the less disturbed area

Precipitation could reach 40 to 50 mm in about three hours, in the north of the Bouches-du-Rhône department. Less mobile on the coast, the turbulence will be more intense there. 60 to 80 mm of rain is expected on the Miramas, Aix-en-Provence, up to the Les Arcs axis.

So there is much less influence on the interior of Provence. In Vaucluse, it is the extreme south of the department, the small Luberon, that should be affected. The rest of the region will be less affected apart from Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.

In Marseille and the rest of Bouches-du-Rhône, the rain should last until early morning, and until evening in the Var and the Alpes-Maritimes where the concern changes.

The expected accumulation is significant, but not unique“, nevertheless affecting the weather antenna of Aix. On average, 52 mm of rain fell this month of September in Bouches-du-Rhône. Last year, in 2023 , only 28.8 mm fell in the same month.
