The Meteorological Service had anticipated it: Scattered storms over the Upper Valley in a southwest to northeast direction, with isolated nuclei with showers and probable hail.
Today, early in the afternoon, a storm with a large amount of rain and hail fell heavily in the town of Allen and surrounding regions. After the snowfall of days ago, residents were surprised to see ice blocks in their yards.

It is not yet known whether the hailstorm – which lasted 15 minutes – caused losses to fruit farms and there is no information on the specific areas where the storms occurred.

The first photos arrived just a few minutes ago, after 3:30 p.m. today, Friday.
Sources from the Río Negro Fruit Growing Secretariat stated that “Apparently, the epicenter was in the Allen area, but focused on the city. At the end of the day we will have more precision about the rest of the affected places.”

On the other hand, it was learned that in the General region and surrounding areas there was “snow and sleet” but no hail that affected production.I don’t think that at this time, given the phenology of pome fruit trees, this type of isolated storms will cause significant damage.perhaps yes in some varieties of plum trees that are already in bloom in the Allen area,” technical sources highlighted.
