Losses are being estimated after evening and night storms across Poland. In the Lodz poviat, firefighters intervened over 200 times. Most of the damage is due to broken roofs, fallen trees and broken power lines. Late in the evening, over 15,000 inhabitants of this region were without electricity.

– A storm with heavy rain and wind passed through the area of Wieluń poviat – said the senior brig. Piotr Cala from the fire brigade in Wieluń. The losses are considerable. – There are about 80 of our activities, about 30 units of the State Fire Service and Volunteer Fire Brigades operate from the poviat area – he summed up.

– There are losses on residential buildings and farm buildings, broken power lines, as well as damage to agricultural crops. There was a hailstorm, so there will also be big losses here, but we will only estimate it in the next days – said Leszek Gierczyk, mayor of the Wierzchlas commune. – We will try to help the residents on an ongoing basis to protect their property against further rains – he added.

Over 15,000 inhabitants without electricity
In total, on Tuesday evening in the Łódź region, 218 reports were reported in connection with storms and gale. The greatest number of interventions was in the counties of Wieluń (81), Radomsko (33) and Pajęczno (32). According to information from firefighters, no one was hurt during the Tuesday storms.

– 31 residential buildings suffered, with 20 roofs damaged to varying degrees. The storm did not spare 20 farm buildings, of which one roof was torn off, and 19 roof covers were damaged – said the spokesman of the provincial fire brigade, Junior Brigadier, at night from Tuesday to Wednesday.
