Storms in southern Norway: – Chaotic: The emergency network down in several places

The emergency network and the telephone network are down in several places in Eastern Norway due to the violent storm.

Vestre Viken HF reports on Friday night that Numedal, Hallingdal and parts of Ringerike, among others, have no emergency network.

– I do not have an overview of how many are affected. However, several ambulances have been sent out on patrol with the blue lights on, so that the public can get in touch if immediate help is needed.

Nina Frostad Dahle tells Dagbladet. She is the head of the communications department at Vestre Viken HF.

Ambulances on the road

The storm causes trees to be blown over. It hits power cords and cables.

The emergency solution is ambulances out on the roads with the blue lights on.

– We have ambulances on patrol in Flå, Nes, Ål and Kongsberg towards Numedal. The public must take to the blue lights if they need immediate help. We also encourage people to go to the emergency room or emergency room themselves, if they are able to, says Frostad Dahle.

In addition, the fire service has opened up for those who need immediate help to take care of them.

Just after half past nine on Friday night, the South-East police district also reports that an ambulance has been placed at the fire station in Nes in Ådal.

– This is due to the outage of mobile networks in the area. If you need health care, you can contact the fire station, they write.

Also in Sigdal, they have followed up and placed an ambulance at Haglebu mountain lodge, due to the loss of electricity and mobile coverage.

Blows down all the time

All other assignments are put on hold until further notice.

– We will in this period, and until further notice is given, we will not be able to perform green or elective assignments, says Frostad Dahle in a press release from Vestre Viken HF.

The problems are further exacerbated by the fact that the whole situation is confusing.

– Veisentralen can currently provide a complete overview of which roads are open and which are closed. Trees blow down all the time, says Frostad Dahle to Dagbladet.

– Never seen anything like it

Harald Rosenvinge was on his way to the cabin at Nissedal when they met a tree that had fallen over the road. People from Vest Telemark Kraftlag were called to sort things out, he says.

Rosenvinge describes strong gusts in the 16-17 period around Nissevann.

– I have never seen anything like this before, he tells Dagbladet in an email.

He says that he is now a few kilometers away and feels that the wind has abated somewhat.

– Challenging

Earlier Friday night, Ringerike announced a fire on Twitter that the mobile network around Nes in Ådal is also out of operation, and that it is challenging to notify the emergency services.

“We have therefore manned the fire station on Nes. Meet directly there, and we will be notified further “, they write.

In Flå, the police have placed an ambulance at McDonalds that can be contacted in case of need for emergency health care.

The storm has also led to several thousand without electricity. According to the electricity company Elvia, 18,000 households are without electricity as a result of no less than 40 breaches in the mains network.

Dagbladet is following the case.
