Storm wreaks havoc in Valencian towns, causing injuries and damage

Several Valencian towns have been affected by this meteorological phenomenon. It has been in a matter of minutes. The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) had already predicted it, which had decreed an orange alert for storms accompanied by hail. And all the predictions have come true. The heavy rains arrived first in Castellón in the early afternoon, where lightning and very intense rainfall have been seen, accumulating up to 50 liters of water per square meter.

Three minor injuries and a fallen tree

Somewhat later they have arrived in Valencia. There the rains have been accompanied by a lot of wind, causing numerous incidents, such as the fall of a large tree. The remains have been left in the middle of the road, causing damage to up to five vehicles. The episode has left three minor injuries due to falling hail on the head and four traffic accidents without personal injury.

In Catalonia the storms have also surprised on Monday. Yellow notices are maintained for today, especially in the north of the community. Cloudiness will also be recorded in the north, with some weak precipitation, more likely in the eastern end of the Bay of Biscay.

The AEMET also forecasts clouds of evolution in a large part of the northeastern peninsular third, where occasional showers and storms will occur that can be locally strong in the northeast of Catalonia, and of a certain intensity in the south of Iberia.

According to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), there will be fog banks in areas of the northern third of the peninsula, Estrecho and Alborán and rainfall of a certain intensity in the south of the Iberian system and some scattered showers in the interior of Mallorca and mountains of the southeast of the Balearic Islands.

Daytime temperatures will rise in the southeast of the peninsula, the Balearic Islands, eastern Iberia, the Huelva coast, the Strait, Alborán, the western Cantabrian area and the Canary Islands, with a predominance of decreases in the rest, while the minimum temperatures will tend to decrease in the western half of the peninsula and to rise in the rest. It will exceed 36/38 degrees in much of the interior of the southern half of the peninsula, mainly in the valleys of large rivers.
