Offenbach am Main – The German Weather Service (DWD) has for large parts of Hessen issued a second-level storm warning: A low-pressure storm over the North Sea is causing extremely uncomfortable weather here too.

Wednesday will initially bring people in Darmstadt, Frankfurt and Kassel some longer-lasting rain, which will only temporarily subside around noon, as the DWD meteorologists in Offenbach predict. With maximum temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees, it will be extremely mild for the time of year.
At the same time, strong to stormy gusts of 60 to 70 km/h are blowing through the state. Wind gusts of up to 85 km/h are therefore possible at higher altitudes.
In the night to Thursday the Weather conditions in Frankfurt and all of Hesse then even more uncomfortable: according to the DWD, increasing westerly winds bring widespread heavy gusts of wind with speeds between 90 and 100 km/h.

According to the weather service, rain and strong to stormy gusts of wind in the federal state must also be expected on Friday, which can also swell to storm and severe gusts of wind. In higher regions, hurricane-like gusts and individual hurricane gusts are also possible on this day.
According to the DWD, the storm will subside a little on Saturday, and the day will start out cloudy and even “locally clear”. However, strong to stormy gusts of wind are still possible in some areas, and even individual gusts of wind in the mountains.
