According to local media, about twenty residents in the nursing home in Monette are still trapped under the rubble of the partly collapsed building. The care home housed at least 90 people. Other buildings in Monette are also said to have been badly damaged by the tornado.

In Edwardsville, in southern Illinois, aid workers have flocked to an Amazon distribution center. There, part of the roof collapsed due to a tornado. There are said to be an unknown number of injured and people trapped under the rubble. The seriousness of the situation is not yet known. According to local media, about a hundred people were working in the building on night shifts.

The US Meteorological Service had issued warnings for tornadoes for several states in the south of the US on Friday. A severe storm is currently moving from the Rocky Mountains across the area to the Midwest. The states of Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky and Indiana are most at risk.
