On the airport’s website, they write that a combination of strong wind, rain and poor visibility is expected on Wednesday. This results in very limited air traffic between 09:00 and 15:00.
– This means that there will be adjustments and delays, both for departure and arrival. Schiphol finds it extremely unfortunate that this could affect your journey, they write.
The Dutch Meteorological Institute has issued a “code red” in connection with the storm, which has been named Poly.
– This morning there will be very strong gusts of 100-120 km/h in the provinces of North Holland, Flevoland, Friesland and in the IJsselmeer area, they write on their website.
The wind will decrease during the afternoon.
“Take action”, warns the institute. They further write that “significant damage” and “very dangerous situations” can occur as a result of falling trees and flying objects.
Train traffic throughout the northern Netherlands will be stopped from 08.30, reports the newspaper De Telegraaf.
