With all the important actors who have accompanied and made up “Storm of Love” over the many years, there was above all one driving force in the series who is now taking her hat off after 18 years: Bea Schmidt. Anyone who knows the series may have read the name more often, but never seen the woman herself on “Storm of Love”. Schmidt is the series maker at Bavaria Productions and she had big words to say about her departure from the production company after 27 years.
Producer says goodbye to “Storm of Love”
In a press release from Bavaria, she said: “With ‘Sturm der Liebe’ we have established a new genre on German television. We have dared a lot and won a lot.” Only a few months ago, after brief moments of uncertainty, the telenovela was extended again by ARD until 2025. This is not her only achievement at Bavaria, she was also responsible for other audience favorites such as “In aller Freundlich” and “Die Rosenheim-Cops”, but she has been with “Storm of Love” since the start in 2005. “Entire generations of television viewers have been shaped by your creative work. Handing over a life’s work is never easy,” wrote their bosses in parting.
A successor has already been found
So Schmidt is stepping down as a producer, who will follow her? Jonas Baur will take up the position and he is familiar with this type of series. He has only been with the production company since October 2022 and was previously at UFA Serial Drama, where he was responsible for “Verliebt in Berlin” and “Verbotene Liebe”. “I’m really looking forward to being the producer of ‘Sturm der Liebe’. I will do so with great respect for what Bea Schmidt and the team have done every day for 18 years,” said Baur in the announcement.
“Storm of Love” runs Monday to Friday at 3:10 p.m. on the first.
