Heavy gusts of wind are expected on the coast this evening, tonight and tomorrow morning. The KNMI will issue a code orange for North Holland and the Wadden area next night. In the rest of the Netherlands, the wind is less extreme and code yellow applies.

Locally there are fears of damage and dangerous situations due to falling trees and flying objects. In North Holland and the Wadden Islands, wind gusts of up to 110 kilometers per hour are possible. At its peak, wind force 9 is expected on the northwest coast. If that wind force continues for at least an hour, storm Isha will be a reality.

Code orange applies on Monday between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. and only in North Holland and the Wadden area. Rijkswaterstaat says that road users should pay close attention at night and during part of the morning rush hour. Inland, wind gusts of up to 90 kilometers per hour are expected. The stormy weather will quickly pass during the morning, the KNMI reports.

Code orange is issued by the KNMI if there is a high risk of dangerous or extreme weather, with a high impact and risk of damage. The general advice is: be prepared.

Flights cancelled

KLM is canceling 65 return flights tonight and tomorrow morning. Due to the predicted weather, there are fewer jobs available at Schiphol, says a spokesperson for the airline. This concerns flights to destinations within Europe.

The NS is not yet taking any measures, reports the regional broadcaster NH. The ferry service between Den Helder and Texel also expects that the storm will have no influence on the timetable.

The ferry between IJmuiden and Newcastle is delayed and arrives in the British city about two hours later. “When the weather is bad, the ship sails up along the English coast, and in this case too,” the director of the ferry service told NH.

Code red in Ireland

The United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany and Belgium will also experience storms. Code red applies to the west of Ireland and Northern Ireland tonight. Code orange applies to Scotland, Wales and part of England. Weather services there warn of power outages, high waves on the coast and dangerous situations on the roads, writes Sky News. More than fifty flights have been canceled at Dublin airport.
