Storm Ernesto: 8 days later, it is still not recommended to consume water in most municipalities in Guadeloupe

Due to the heavy rains generated by Storm Ernesto, drinking water production has been disrupted since last week. Quality checks are underway this Monday in six new sectors and new samples are being taken at the plant exit in Capesterre-Belle-Eau and Sainte-Rose in order to assess bacteriological contamination. Pending the new results, water consumption is still strongly discouraged.

Following the analyses carried out at the exit of the La Digue treatment plant in Capesterre-Belle-Eau and Solitude in Sainte-Rose which showed that there was bacteriological contamination, new checks are being carried out this Monday in order to take stock of the situation.

Other samples are also being taken in several areas which could not be checked at the end of last week:

  • Beaugendre in Old-Habitants
  • Vannibel the New in Vieux-Habitants
