Vienna (OTS) –
Heavy rain and gusts of wind are forecast for the entire city this weekend. The City of Vienna advises people to avoid unnecessary journeys and to only stay in public spaces if necessary and for a short time. The Vienna Waterways Department – MA 45 warns that in the event of heavy rainfall, the Vienna Forest streams – Liesing and Wien River – can swell quickly and flood the banks. The city therefore advises people not to take trips on the footpaths and cycle paths along the streams and in the forest and to stay at home in the event of heavy rain and gusts of wind.
Emergency services monitor situation
The Vienna emergency services – above all the fire brigade and the MA 45 flood service – are constantly monitoring the storm and rain situation. The Vienna public transport system has also prepared for the upcoming rainy weekend: the public transport companies are in constant coordination with the emergency services and additional staff are on duty in order to be able to resolve any disruptions as quickly as possible. Despite all adversities, the City of Vienna is endeavouring to continue to offer the services to the Viennese population in the usual quality in the coming days, but asks for understanding if delays occur.
