Storm Ciaran, The countdown begins. At 4 p.m., Météo-France informed that Paris and the west of Île-de-France were going to be placed on orange alert for violent winds. The departments concerned are, for the moment, Yvelines, Val-d’Oise, Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-de-Marne. But when will the “weather bomb” hit our sector?
The night of all dangers
Ciaran arrives very quickly in Brittany, where the rains have started and the wind is getting stronger at the start of the evening. The brunt of the storm, however, is expected to occur between midnight and 7 a.m. Thursday, November 2, 2023.
In our sector, vigilance will officially come into force at 2 a.m., and will be maintained until at least 6 a.m., warn the authorities. “The storm will approach the region in the first part of the night, with winds reaching 70 to 80 km/h before midnight,” relays the City of Paris on its site Internet. Rainfall accumulations will be between 1 and 5 mm, and locally 5 to 10 mm. »
The strongest wind gusts are expected “between 4 a.m. and 2 p.m., with intensities that can exceed 100 km/h in the west of the region up to the outskirts of Paris”.
Recommendations
The rains will be continuous and will leave the region around 3 or 4 a.m., giving way to sometimes heavy showers until early morning. After a lull, the showers will resume in the afternoon, but much weaker and scattered.
While local authorities are increasing calls for caution, and anticipate the risks as best as possible, the SNCF has just announced that part of the RER A and the Transilien lines would be stopped on Thursday morning. And this, in order to “avoid engaging trains in the middle of disruptions at the risk of seeing them blocked with passengers on board”
