Storm Bella provides a busy morning fire brigade: ‘No life-threatening situations’

The fire brigade had a busy morning with damage reports due to storm Bella. The fire brigade has handled approximately twenty reports from 05:00 this morning. This mainly concerns loosening scaffolding canvases, advertising signs, loosening roof covering and sun blinds.

According to a spokesman for the fire service, the damage has been limited so far, despite the large number of reports. ‘The hustle and bustle was mainly from 5 a.m. to 12 noon, after which it became quiet.’

The fire brigade knew it was going to be a bit busier, but knew in advance that storm Bella was not going to cause any major problems. ‘That’s because there are no leaves on the trees, so they are less susceptible to the wind,’ says a spokesman for the fire service. As a result, there were also no reports of fallen trees in the city.

‘In Noord, we had a nice bet on the fourth floor of an apartment building.’ The roof covering had come loose due to strong gusts of wind there. “We were quick and were able to solve it immediately,” said the spokesperson.

At 2 p.m. KNMI withdrew code yellow in our region again because the wind has decreased in strength.
