Storm Alert: Nine Departments in Paraguay to Experience Severe Weather This Sunday

The Meteorological Directorate issued a storm alert that will affect nine departments this Sunday. The day will be marked by a hot, humid and unstable environment throughout the country.

The expected phenomenon includes rain with moderate to strong thunderstorms, moderate to strong gusts of wind and occasional hail, according to the alert issued at 7:26 this Sunday by the Meteorological Directorate.

This is because the storm cores continue to develop and intensify over the coverage area, so the occasional occurrence of severe weather phenomena during the first hours of this morning is not ruled out.

Departments affected by storms

According to the alert issued by the Meteorological Directorate, the coverage area covers the center, south and east of the Eastern Region.

The departments affected by the storms will be: central and southern Guairá, central and eastern Caaguazú, Caazapá, Itapúa, Misiones, southern, central and northwestern Paraguarí, central and southern Alto Paraná, central and southern Central, central, south and north of Ñeembucú.

Hot, humid and unstable Sunday

According to the forecaster on duty, Carolina López, the atmosphere this Sunday will remain hot, humid and unstable in much of the country.

The maximum temperature would range between 35 and 39 °C for the Eastern Region, while for the Chaco it could reach 41 °C. The winds would blow from the northern sector with varying intensity for much of the day and then in a variable manner.

For this morning it is estimated that temperatures will reach between 30 and 35 °C and the weather will remain hot and humid, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies, winds from the north, then variable, as well as scattered rains with occasional thunderstorms.

In the afternoon, temperatures would reach 36 to 38 °C, with a very hot and humid environment, mostly cloudy skies, variable winds and scattered rains with occasional thunderstorms.

At night, temperatures would vary between 34 and 30 °C, with a hot and humid environment, mostly cloudy skies, winds and scattered rains, then improving.

Rains and storms would persist throughout the week

For Monday the 18th, the probability of rain with storms would persist for the extreme south of the Eastern Region, while for the center, north and east the unstable weather would continue in the form of showers with electrical activity, while for the Chaco it would occur. only increased cloudiness, moderate northerly winds and low probability of rain.

The environment would continue to be very hot and humid nationwide, so the minimum temperature would range between 25 and 29° C and the maximum could be around 35 and 41° C in both regions.

Then, on Tuesday the 19th and Wednesday the 20th, the same weather conditions would continue, so it is not ruled out that showers could occur in some parts of the country.
