The death toll from the severe winter storm that hit the United States for several days reached 25 in Erie County alone, located in western New York state. It is one of the hardest hit, a local official said on Monday.
Local services confirmed new deaths of people found in cars or outdoors since Sunday evening, “bringing the blizzard death toll to 25,” said county executive Mark Poloncarz.
The total of deaths confirmed by authorities in nine US states is now at least 47 dead.
