IDXChannel – Feature Stories from LinkedIn not long lived. The reason the company plans to remove this feature at the end of September.
Video Stories on LinkedIn first launched in February 2020 in internal testing. The company calls the shutdown because users don’t want the videos they upload to disappear.
“In developing Stories, we assumed that people don’t want informal videos attached to their profiles, and that will reduce the barriers people feel to posting,” said Senior Director of Productiz, Liz Li, quoted by The Verge, Wednesday (1/9). /2021).
“It turns out that users want to create timeless videos that tell professional stories in a more personal way and that showcase their personality and expertise.”
LinkedIn wasn’t the only one to stop the Stories feature. Previously existed Twitter which also does the same with a feature they named Fleets.
Like LinkedIn, Twitter has observed that users don’t really like time-limited video formats.
The discontinuation of the Stories feature on these two platforms could signal a loss of user interest in video formats that could disappear. However, it seems unlikely that Snapchat or Instagram will give up their Stories products anytime soon.
