Which stores are open on the June long weekend in 2021? In 2021, Corpus Christi was on Thursday, June 3. Corpus Christi is a public holiday. Most stores were closed that day. They reopened on Friday, June 4. What about June 5 and 6? Stores with owners behind the counter may still be open on Sundays. Check which stores are open on the June long weekend in 2021.

Shops open in June a long weekend 2021

Corpus Christi in 2021 was Thursday, June 3. Corpus Christi is the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. It is a movable holiday that falls 60 days after Easter. It is a day off from work. Many shops, including shopping centers and large-format DIY and furniture stores, were closed, as was the case on non-trading Sundays.

On Corpus Christi, only those shops with their owners behind the counter could be open, as well as facilities offering postal services – picking up or sending parcels.

Among the stores that could be open on June 3 were, among others

  • Żabka chain stores,
  • Centrum Delicatessen,
  • Leviathan
  • or ABC.

This applies to franchise stores, where the decision to open stores to each of the franchisees. Of course, these stores may also be closed, because the decision is up to the owner of the facility. Only he can work behind the counter then.

The long June weekend means that we will not make purchases:

  • June 3 – Corpus Christi
  • June 6 – Sunday without trade – stores will also be closed that day.

On these days, gas stations will also be open, where you can also buy many products, from food, through hygiene, to automotive. In turn, on Sunday – June 6 – that is, on a non-trading Sunday, only stores with their owners will be open. Supermarkets, discount stores and hypermarkets, shopping malls, as well as DIY and furniture stores will be closed.

Trade Restrictions – Coronavirus

As a reminder, there are still some restrictions on trading. Of course, they are related to the coronavirus epidemic. The current restrictions are valid until June 5.

Current restrictions in Poland – trade:

  • DIY stores, furniture stores, and shopping malls are open in a strict sanitary regime.
  • There is also a limit of people – max. 1 person for 15 sq m

Shops open on non-trading Sundays

There are only 7 trading Sundays in 2021. On other Sundays, you cannot shop in larger supermarkets. The trade restriction was introduced by the law of January 30, 2018 signed by President Andrzej Duda. This means that during the long weekend in June the stores will be closed on Thursday, June 3 – on Corpus Christi – and on Sunday – June 6.

Trading Sundays in 2021:

  • January 31, 2021;
  • 28 mark 2021;
  • April 25, 2021;
  • June 27, 2021;
  • August 29, 2021;
  • December 12, 2021;
  • December 19, 2021.

On other Sundays, trading is prohibited.

On all Sundays, there may be:

  • “Shops where trade is conducted by an entrepreneur who is a natural person only in person, on his own behalf and on his own account”,
  • gas stations,
  • shops at railway stations,
  • pharmacies,
  • kiosk,
  • bakeries,
  • pastry shops,
  • ice cream parlors,
  • points with devotional items,
  • florists,
  • mail,
  • “Commercial establishments in establishments operating in the field of culture, sport, education, tourism and leisure”.

The trade restriction does not apply to cafes, restaurants and facilities such as children’s playrooms, fitness clubs, cinemas, dance schools or sports centers.
