The big question is whether such shops should only be open for picking up delivered parcels, or also to sell things. Primera, together with the trade association, has requested clarification from the Ministry of Economic Affairs about what exactly the rules prescribe.
DHL: 60 euros for keeping the parcel point open
With only a parcel point, it is complicated for retailers to open the store profitably, if no money comes in through store sales. Delivery driver DHL therefore accommodates retailers with a reimbursement of up to EUR 60 per day. In return, entrepreneurs have to open their shop three hours a day for customers who want to collect parcels.
DHL cannot indicate how many essential stores have a DHL point. PostNL does not make any statements about this either.

Shops selling food and drinks are exempt from the lockdown. That also leads to confusion. Department store chain Hema, for example, says it is open to smoked sausages, but not to underpants. That could not prevent the police from today at the branch in Schijndel on the doorstep to hand out warnings, reports Broadcasting Brabant.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs has informed RTL Z that it is ‘considering the issue’.
