But how electricity prices will be lower in the future is still a mystery.

However, Støre stresses that any measure must not go beyond security of supply.

He says the government is looking into several possible models for lowering electricity prices, but at the same time says he hasn’t seen any models that meet the requirements the government needs to do.
Both SV and the Center Party want a two-price system where there is one price for electricity for domestic use and one for electricity for export.
Center Party parliamentary leader Marit Arnstad called on the government over Christmas to investigate a two-price model, where foreign cables form a separate price area. FRP has also proposed this before.
