Støre has got bodyguards

In recent years, it is only on special occasions that the AP leader has been accompanied by bodyguards, but now he is followed and driven in a secured car wherever he goes.

On Sunday, Støre drove himself Stovner to be present at Joshua King’s football school. It may be a long time until the next time he gets behind the wheel again.

– I would like to continue to live quite normally, with the subway, bicycle and own car, but I have full confidence in PST’s assessments. And when it first becomes like that towards the election, it’s fine to have a follow-up of PST, I experienced that from my time in government. They are always professional and nice, says Jonas Gahr Støre to TV 2.

BROUGHT HOME: Støre was picked up at home by PST for the first time in a long time.

Earlier this month, TV 2 followed the Labor Party leader on the subway to the Storting.

LONG TO THE NEXT TIME: Jonas Gahr Støre does not need to renew the monthly card immediately.

Followed closely

Støre has had a regular following of bodyguards several times before, both as party leader and government member in Stoltenberg’s red-green government from 2005-2012.

In Norway, the sitting prime minister has had a steady following of bodyguards since 2001. Erna Solberg (H) has been followed by bodyguards from PST since June 2013.

On Monday, Støre visited the Kongsvinger region with several company visits.

SAFETY: In an armored car and with several police officers around him, Støre was well taken care of.

The police security service will not comment on what security measures they have around the AP leader, but TV 2 is not aware that specific threats are the reason why Støre is now being followed by bodyguards.

– Bodyguard assignments are a measure that PST recommends and implements, but beyond that we do not comment on the security measures we carry out with government officials, says Martin Berntsen, senior adviser at PST.

MAGNOR: Støre visited The Plus, known as «the world's most environmentally friendly furniture factory.
