>## Rapper Roddy Ricch Reclaims Grammy After Storage Unit Saga
Grammy-winning rapper Roddy Ricch found himself in a bizarre situation when his 2020 Best Rap Performance award, earned for his contribution to Nipsey Hussle’s “Racks in the Middle,” surfaced in an unexpected location – an abandoned storage unit. The surprising discovery was made by YouTuber Prieto Hunter, who purchased the unit for a mere $280 at an auction.
Hunter’s unexpected find quickly turned into a complicated ordeal. According to Ricch, the award had inadvertently ended up in storage due to a personal assistant’s serious brain injury following a car accident. Ricch claimed that Hunter demanded a hefty $50,000 for the Grammy’s return after Ricch initially offered $10,000. In an Instagram Live session, Ricch stated, “My personal assistant ended up getting into a near-fatal accident and had a severe brain injury. Me going back and forth to Miami, I just put my stuff in storage for safe-keeping. Him getting into that accident is how that shit got mishandled.”
Hunter paints a different picture. In an Instagram comment, he vehemently denied demanding ransom, stating he “did not ask for that and no I did not get offered none 50k all I got was threats.” He insisted he returned the award “at NO COST” and had no desire for compensation, not even concert tickets. In a separate video, Hunter explained that his only request was “a video of me giving it back to him or at least a video of him telling me thank you.”
The situation escalated further, with Hunter alleging threats against himself and his family, including photographs of his house being shared online. “This has turned into a nightmare for me,” he said. “Threats to me and my family, pictures of my house. All of my family is getting affected by this,” Hunter continued. “This is what I do for a living: I post videos of what I find in storage units. All I made was a video of me finding this, and that’s it. Never was it meant to disrespect or anybody.”
Ultimately, Ricch was able to reclaim his Grammy during a tense exchange arranged at a police station.
This incident highlights the unusual and unexpected places valuable items can turn up, and the potential complications that can arise when personal belongings fall into the wrong hands.
