Stopped raw pensioner: – The police officer is hailed after this

On Thursday, police in Sterling Heights, Michigan, stopped a car that was driving too fast.

In the car, they found a stressed pensioner who needed help.

In a post on Sterling Height police Facebook-side, says police officer Kevin Coates that the man cried and was out of his mind.

– Everything is wrong, the man exclaimed.

The man explained that his wife was ill and that they have an adult son with special needs – and that he was unable to make the TV at home work.

The 79-year-old said that he had just bought a new TV for the family, and that he had driven around the city to find the right wires for it.

– I bought a new TV today because I wanted to make my wife happy, but I can not connect it, the man said.

It was all filmed by the police car’s dashboard camera.

– A lesson for all of us

Instead of giving the retiree a speeding ticket, the retiree and police officer Coates exchanged phone numbers.

Coates promised that he and his colleagues would drop by the man later and help connect the TV.

The police officer kept his word, and the same evening he and two colleagues went home to the man and solved the problem.

Then they showed the 79-year-old how he could change the channel on the TV.

In a post on Facebook, Sterling Heights mayor Michael Taylor pays tribute to police officer Coates.

– He showed compassion, dignity and respect. What a useful lesson for all of us, he writes.

Police Chief Dale Dwojakowski also praised the police officers who offered help instead of giving the man a fine.

“This is just another example of the incredible work that the Sterling Heights police are doing for society,” he wrote in an email to CBS News.
