stop to withdrawals from this date

The concept of electronic money it is now almost totally accepted both “physically” on the national territory but also and above all conceptually. For several years now, while associating this term with electronic payments such as ATMs and cards of various kinds, the word itself has acquired a very broad connotation and not always easy to define. In fact, all forms of “money” that do not include physical money are “electronic”, and since the latter represents a sort of limit, even the concept of withdrawal is already undergoing change.

Bancomat, the official communication: no more withdrawals from this date

The common trend is therefore to reduce the circulation of cash with increasing frequency, especially for relevant transactions. This is because cash is still used to “evade” tax controls, thus contributing to phenomena that have always been opposed such as tax evasion, money laundering and illegal work.

Even credit institutions have adapted to the limits relating to economic transactions (to date it is “illegal” to make a payment for a good / service and any transaction exceeding 2000 euro with cash), but also linked to withdrawals, although these limits are less stringent (there are no “checks” on monthly amounts of less than 10 thousand euros).

However, some credit institutions have already begun to adapt to what will be a cashless company one day, as demonstrated by giants such as the ING group, which from 2021 has decided to remove any physical presence on the Italian territory, abandoning the branches and the consequent ATMs. . Other banks will sooner or later follow this path, also because the process is already underway, with hundreds of ATMs that are closed every year.

However, several sources are not so “drastic” in decreeing the end of “cash”: at least for another decade it should not be a problem to find some branches to physically withdraw our money.
