New World is popular. Very popular. Even so popular that players are endlessly in the queue. To ensure that the servers are not overloaded (even further…), it is therefore temporarily not possible to create new characters on busy servers.
When a server is full, it will be grayed out, with the note that character creation is not possible. Already have a character on such a full server? Then you can of course just log in. Or well, at least queue to log in…
At the time of writing, over 900,000 people are playing New World (via SteamDB). It is therefore the most popular game of the moment! There are more people in the MMO than in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2.
Amazon gave (via Eurogamer) to be “surprised” by the sheer number of players willing to check out New World. Fortunately, new servers are currently being added, and we are also working on increasing the capacity of the existing servers. Amazon will continue to do that until wait times “stabilize”.
Do you want to check out New World and don’t feel like standing in line endlessly? Then feel free to choose a less popular server. A free feature is also being worked on that allows you to move your character to another server. This feature is expected next week.
