No. 0787
In Lichtenberg, a man alerted the police yesterday afternoon after he recognized his friend’s motorcycle that had been stolen a few days earlier in the flow of traffic on Frankfurter Allee / Ruschestrasse. The witness followed the two-wheeler and informed the police of its location.
At around 4:50 p.m., the police tried to stop the driver of the motorcycle in Otto-Braun-Strasse. However, he initially evaded police measures and fled. The driver disregarded several red traffic lights, drove at extremely high speed and endangered several pedestrians who had to jump aside. Other vehicles had to perform emergency braking to prevent collisions with the motorcycle. In the Straßburger Strasse in Prenzlauer Berg, the police succeeded in cutting off the fugitive’s path and arresting him. During a search of the 38-year-old, the police found various drugs. The man did not have an identity card with him, and according to his own information, he does not have a driving license. An alcohol test was negative, the man refused a rapid drug test and said it would be positive. In a police custody, the 38-year-old was identified and blood was drawn. During a voluntary search of his apartment that followed, police found stolen license plates and other drugs. In addition, the man’s two-year-old child and the 38-year-old’s girlfriend were in the apartment. Due to the condition in the apartment and the resulting danger for the child, the police immediately informed the child emergency service. The two-year-old has since been taken to hospital. The investigations, among other things because of the violation of the duty of care or upbringing, are ongoing.
