At the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, which will be held in the Middle East for the first time in history, the local security situation was disturbed, such as a theft during a live broadcast and local men behaving in rude way to Korean female reporters in front of the camera. It’s controversial.
The British “Sports Bible” reported on the 21st (Korean time) that “a reporter who was broadcasting the World Cup was stolen during the live broadcast.”
According to the report, journalist Dominique Metzger of Argentinean TV station ‘TN’ had her money, credit cards and documents stolen from her purse while conducting a live broadcast on the Corniche in Doha, Qatar.
Metzger said “I don’t have to worry” and “I’m fine” via social media. “We went through a situation that we always talked about,” he said, adding, “The difference is that (the theft) happened in what we said was the safest place.”
Korean journalists have also been subjected to frowns. Jeong Yi-soo, who runs the football-related YouTube channel “Lee Soo-nal” and left to cover the 2022 World Cup in Qatar as a reporter for the Korean public broadcaster “KBS”, was caught on camera on 20 from a local fan.
In the video, Mr. Jeong was preparing for the broadcast, and suddenly foreign football fans sang and were captured. They interfered with Jung’s report by singing into the camera. One of the group even put a hand on Jeong’s shoulder.
Mr. Jeong didn’t give up and started broadcasting. While he was reporting, a man interrupted his report by covering him with a national flag with a cigarette in his mouth. When Jeong showed no reaction, the man walked past and hit Jeong on the shoulder. Even in this situation, Mr. Jung continued the broadcast and ended it.
On the 21st, Mr. Jeong said, ‘I was hit in the shoulder during the World Cup live broadcast. Through the video titled “I almost had the biggest TV crash ever,” he said, “I was really surprised,” and “Suddenly, I hit the drums and just clapped my back. It’s not easy.”
