Stocks New York: prices rise again – Dow with a strong stock market week

NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – The ups and downs on Wall Street continued on the last trading day of the week. After the losses of the Dow Jones Industrial the day before, it rose again on Friday. There was a tailwind from surprisingly good quarterly figures and forecasts from the technology groups Cisco Systems and Applied Materials. The Dow posted an increase of 0.80 percent to 29 311 points in early trading.

Thanks to the price rally at the beginning of the week, the US benchmark index shows a weekly gain of three and a half percent. On Monday, the Dow had soared by almost six percent to a record high and narrowly missed the jump over the 30,000 mark. This remains the next target on the Dow’s further upward journey.

The market-wide S&P 500 advanced 0.82 percent to 3566 points. The S&P 500 also hit a record high on Monday. For the technology-heavy Nasdaq 100, it went up 0.81 percent to 11,923 points. / Bek / he
