NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – On Wall Street, the skeptics regained the upper hand on Monday. After the US stock exchanges managed to conciliate a turbulent week on Friday, the most important stock indices posted losses again. One of the concerns of investors was the rise in Covid-19 cases in some parts of the world. In Singapore and Taiwan, the corona rules have been tightened again. There was also disappointing retail data from China, and investors continue to see a risk for the economy in rising inflation.
Der Dow Jones Industrial fell 0.16 percent to 34,327.79 points. A week ago, the US benchmark index climbed above the 35,000 mark for the first time before the prices went on a roller coaster ride.
The market-wide S&P 500 fell 0.25 percent on Monday to 4163.29 points. The technology-heavy and therefore particularly economically sensitive Nasdaq 100 lost 0.60 percent to 13,312.91 points.
