Books – Ahmad Jumaa:

Dr. Ahmed Al-Sobky, Assistant Minister of Health for Supervision and Follow-up, directed that the strategic limit for oxygen consumption in hospitals be monitored nationwide, provided that the stock is sufficient for a period of no less than 12 hours.

This came in a letter sent by “Al-Sobky” to health authorities and agencies, and the Ministry’s agents at the level of the Republic.

In his speech, Al-Sobky explained the mechanism for managing the oxygen supply system during the coming period, which will be done by supplying oxygen through three methods, on top of which is direct contracting from the directorate and the provision of routine needs locally.

He explained that in the event that companies supplying oxygen locally are unable to meet the quantities required to cover consumption, an additional, routine, central support is required.

He stressed the request for emergency support in the event that the local companies contracted with them did not fulfill or the consumption falls below the strategic limit enough for a period of not less than 12 hours, or a sudden increase in operating rates is observed, and in this case the central operations room that is held is notified around the clock.

In turn, Dr. Mustafa Ghanima, head of the curative care sector, directed direct field follow-up to all sick cases in hospitals, and to ensure that they are classified according to the protocol of the Ministry of Health, “Detention in intensive care / intermediate care / internal section,” as well as monitoring the need for oxygen.

Ghanima demanded the nomination of two doctors on a 24-hour basis, “emergency – intensive care – anesthesia – chest” in each of the affiliated hospitals to record the amount of oxygen in the hospital, “tanks and cylinders”, counting the number of patients detained in the internal department and estimating the amount of oxygen needed for them per hour, The number of patients admitted in intensive or intermediate care, and an estimate of the amount of oxygen needed for them per hour.

The medical team also makes sure that the nursing team is committed to following up the delivery and separation of oxygen to patients according to the doctor’s instructions.
