Vienna (OTS) – “Panic is spreading in the Kickl-FPÖ. Because just after serious allegations against Egisto Ott became public, the FPÖ lashed out wildly – apparently in the hope of letting Egisto Ott’s connections to the FPÖ get lost in a flood of absurd statements. This approach, already known from the FPÖ, will be of no use. Because the blue-red influence on and in the BVT has massively endangered Austria and clarification is urgently required for reasons of national security alone. The allegations of espionage surrounding Egisto Ott, for whom the presumption of innocence applies, are increasing – according to media reports, confidential information is said to have been systematically leaked to the Russian secret service,” said the general secretary and security spokesman of the People’s Party, Christian Stocker, and continued: “In particular the role of the former Interior Minister Herbert Kickl needs to be investigated. The dismantling of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution in Austria by Herbert Kickl now appears in a new light. What role did Hans-Jörg Jenewein, then an FPÖ politician and the party’s former security spokesman, play in this context? Were there connections from Egisto Ott via Hans-Jörg Jenewein to Herbert Kickl? Should a Russia-friendly shadow secret service actually be set up in the FPÖ-led Foreign Ministry after the destruction of the BVT? Who in the FPÖ was in direct or indirect contact with Egisto Ott? Who in the FPÖ was aware of Egisto Ott’s alleged passing on of secret information to Russia or the Russian secret service? Were FPÖ politicians involved in these machinations or informed about them? Herbert Kickl and the FPÖ are obviously aware of these questions and also uncomfortable. The FPÖ’s media sweeps clearly show Herbert Kickl’s nervousness.”
“But the SPÖ will also have to explain to what extent there are or have been connections to Egisto Ott. After all, according to media reports, he stated that he was an active member of the SPÖ. “It will also be necessary to clarify what role Peter Pilz or Helmut Brandstätter (NEOS EU top candidate) played in connection with Egisto Ott,” said Stocker.
