Stock problems meant that some Elkjøp customers did not receive the Xbox Series X on the launch day

Xbox Series X and S have finally been launched, but for many, the big release day was marked by disappointment and frustration. Several who were supposed to get their console on Tuesday are still waiting, and many complain about the lack of communication from the stores.

Gamer.no has received several tips from frustrated readers who have not received their console. Conflicting information is reported from stores such as Elkjøp, where customers are informed that the Xbox Series X has already been sent, while there is no tracking number on the package and the store’s website claims that the item is only “reserved”.

– I have been in contact with Elkjøp several times, and they say differently on every occasion. Yesterday it was obviously sent yesterday, while today it was not sent until today and the status is still “reserved” and not “sent”, writes Tord Fuglstad in an e-mail to Gamer.no.

There is also a lot of confusion about the order the stores use for their deliveries. In a longer thread on Diskusjon.no Some report that they pre-ordered on September 22 and have not received the Xbox Series X, while others who ordered later have already been able to pick up theirs.

In a comment to Gamer.no, communications manager at Elkjøp, Madeleine Schøyen Bergly, is open about the fact that not everything has gone smoothly. Now they apologize to customers, pointing to stock trouble as the cause.

– Unfortunately, we had capacity challenges at our main warehouse in Jönkoping earlier this week, and this affected a certain number of Xbox broadcasts. We of course apologize for this and understand that this was disappointing for the customers in question, she writes to Gamer.no.

Elkjøp now says that the remaining Xboxs were sent out on Tuesday night, and that if the postage goes as normal, they will arrive at the agreed delivery point on Wednesday.

Whether the PlayStation 5 launch will go any smoother remains to be seen. In Norway, the Sony console will be released on November 19, and this too must be almost impossible to obtain if you have not pre-ordered.
