Investing.com – US: Equity markets ended the session in mixed order on Wednesday; the increase in sectors , , and contributed to this increase, while the decrease in sectors , , and had a downward effect on prices.
As of the close of the NYSE, the index was up 0.00%, while the index was down 0.19% and the index was down 0.51%.
The best performance of the session for the index was credited to 3M Company (NYSE:) shares, up 1.42% or 1.77 points for a closing price of 126.35. In second position we find Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:) gaining 1.06% or 1.16 points for a close at 110.09. The title Amgen Inc (NASDAQ 🙂 rounds out this top 3 by 0.87% or 2.47 points for a session end at 285.76.

The worst performers were M&T Bank Corp (NYSE:) down 7.72% to 147.97 at the close, Brown Forman (NYSE:) down 7.30% to 68.27 and Expedia Inc (NASDAQ:), down 6.32% to close at 90.79.
The best performance of the NASDAQ Composite goes to Prometheus Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ:) gaining 165.67% at a price of 95.80, Transcoding Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ 🙂 up 133.44% to 0.98 and Vor Biopharma Inc (NASDAQ 🙂 which gained 41.86% for a closing price of 6.10.
The worst performers are Ensysce Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ:) down 53.36% to 1.04 at the close, Versus Systems Inc (NASDAQ:) down 46.98% to 0.79 and Bruush Oral Care Inc Unit (NASDAQ: ), down 46.95% to 0.50 at the close.
Falling stocks outpaced rising stocks on the New York Stock Exchange by 1608 values at 1466 and 134 flat; on the NASDAQ 2213 values fell and 1488 rose, 172 remained unchanged.
Shares of Campbell Soup Company (NYSE:) soared to a new high, after gaining 6.02% or 3.19 points for a price of 56.18. Salesforce Inc (NYSE:) shares fell to a 52-week low, after dropping 2.09% or 2.79 points to a price of 130.48. Prometheus Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ:) shares soared to an all-time high, thanks to a 165.67% gain or 59.74 points for a price of 95.80. Shares of Ensysce Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ:) fell and hit an all-time low, after falling 53.36% or 1.19 points for a price of 1.04. Shares of Versus Systems Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to an all-time low, after dropping 46.98% or 0.70 point to a price of 0.79. Shares of Bruush Oral Care Inc Unit (NASDAQ:) fell to an all-time low, after dropping 46.95% or 0.45 points to a price of 0.50.
The index, which measures the implied volatility of options on the S&P 500 index, rose 2.30% to 22.68.
On the other hand, gold for February delivery gained 0.91% or 16.25 points to $1.00 per troy ounce. Elsewhere, crude for January delivery fell 2.40% or 1.78 points to $72.47 a barrel, while Brent for February delivery lost 2.28 points. % or 1.81 points for a price of $77.54 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.38% to 1.05, while USD/JPY fell 0.38% to 136.52.
The US dollar index fell 0.40% to 105.12.
