Stock market: New York and Toronto bounce back at the opening

MARKET REVIEW. The New York Stock Exchange kicked off a strong rebound at the opening Monday, with bond yields returning from their recent highs as positive news from the vaccine side supported investor optimism.

The Toronto Stock Exchange also regained strength at the opening of the session, as did Wall Street.

The clues

In Toronto, the S&P/TSX increased by 243 points, or 1.35%, to 18,303 points.

In New York, the S&P 500 was up 59 points, or 1.57%, to 3,870 points.

The Dow Jones climbed 496 points, or 1.61%, to 31,429 points.

The Nasdaq gained 203 points, or 1.54%, to 13,395 points.
