Market report Fri. October 29, 2021 – Investors shake off interest rate worries – DAX hardly changed
Investors increasingly worried about a possible interest rate hike on Friday. Confidence in the ECB is slowly waning to actually keep its feet still in the face of high inflation. A balance season that is surprisingly strong has a supportive effect. Nevertheless, the DAX closed almost unchanged. You will hear excerpts from our interviews with board members and company spokesmen from Palfinger and OMV from Austria. Also UniDevice and PSI software. And then with Andreas Scholz from dfv Euro Finance Group, chart analyst Jochen Stanzl from CMC and Sascha Flach from ICF.

OMV: The profit driver was chemistry, not just oil and gas – CFO Florey on oil prices, gas supply and transformation
OMV was able to significantly increase its profit in the first nine months of 2021 to 2.13 billion euros, a year ago a loss of 468 million euros was recorded there. No wonder: the oil and gas price has risen sharply and despite the transformation, OMV is strong in these segments. However, the profit driver was the chemicals sector, which has been the focus of increasing attention since the Borealis takeover. Because the polyethylene prices have also risen sharply. The transformation is progressing, there have been other sales, as is currently the case with an oil field in Norway. OMV CFO Reinhard Florey gives an insight into the strategy, the assessment of the oil price development and the situation of the gas supply for the winter.

Palfinger AG: Aiming for a new record year – over 148 loading cranes for Thailand – saved for concrete gold
The Austrian crane manufacturer Palfinger still aims high. In Q1 to Q3 / 2021, the AG is aiming for a new record year with sales of more than 1.75 billion euros and an EBIT of over 150 million for the full year 2021. “We are feeling a strong tailwind from the market,” explains CFO Felix Strohbichler, “The reasons are not just catch-up effects after Corona. Our company also serves megatrends such as construction recycling.” Many people currently feel the need to pour what they have saved into concrete gold. “In terms of demand, Corona is no longer there. The rising material costs will hit us in the fourth and still in the first quarter of 2022. Palfinger can also use the material and Do not withdraw delivery bottlenecks – that leads to inefficiencies. However, you can assume that we will be covered with our order backlog until Q2 / 2022. We will clearly adhere to our guidance for 2021. ” Midterm target: sales of 2.3 billion euros by 2024.
