Investing.com – US stocks were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

At the end of trading in New York, it increased by 0.33%, and reached within a month its highest record level, while it climbed by 0.40% and consolidated its position at 0.71%.

Among the leading stocks today in the stock market was JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: NYSE), which rose by 2.47%, or 3.45 points, and closed at 142.94. On the other hand, Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE) added 1.33% or 3.39 points to end at 258.46, while Apple (NASDAQ:) added 1.00% or 1.33 points to 134.74 by the end of the session.

As for the worst performer at the end of the day’s trading, shares of United Health Group Inc (NYSE:) closed down by 1.25%, or 6.18 points, and traded at 489.49 levels at the close. Intel Group (NASDAQ:) declined 0.59%, or 0.18 points, to end at 30.11, and The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:) closed down 0.41%, or 0.41 points, to 99.40.

On the other hand, the best performance in the Standard & Poor’s 500 index was recorded by Illumina Inc (NASDAQ:), which rose by 3.80% at a price of 201.11. Wells Fargo & Co (NYSE:) also continued its rise by 3.25% and closed at Levels of 44.22, as well as Stanley Black & Decker (NYSE:) rose by 3.06% and ended its trading at a price of 88.91.

Among the stocks that underperformed today, we mention Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:), which fell by 5.42%, closing at a price of 461.55, Ford Motor Company (NYSE:), which lost 5.29%, to a price of 12.72, and General Motors stock. (NYSE:), which weakened by 4.75% and closed at 36.51 in today’s session on the stock exchange.

On the other hand, the best performance in the Nasdaq index was recorded by iPower shares (NASDAQ:), which rose by 50.42%, at a price of 0.77, Moxian Inc. (NASDAQ:) also continued its rise at 47.52% and closed at 1.49 levels, as well as SmileDirectClub Inc (NASDAQ:) It rose by 46.77% and ended its trading at a price of 0.70.

Among the stocks with the weakest performance today, we mention the stock of Catalyst Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ:), which fell by 32.69%, and closed its session at a price of 0.26, the share of Bed Path and Beyond (NASDAQ:), which lost 30.15%, at a price of 3.66, and a share AGBA Acquisition Ltd (NASDAQ:), which weakened by 21.52% and closed at 4.12 for today’s session on the stock exchange.

The number of gainers exceeded the number of shares that closed lower in trading on the New York Stock Exchange with 1847 compared to 1179, while 114 remained unchanged. As for the Nasdaq stock exchange, 2337 of the stocks strengthened their position and 1331 retreated, while 161 of the stocks maintained their value.

Shares in Caterpillar Corporation (NYSE:) climbed to an all-time high, rising 1.33%, or 3.39 points, at 258.46. Catalyst Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ:) stock fell to a record low, losing 32.69%, or 0.13 points, at a price of 0.26.

The EUR/USD pair maintained its stability by 0.12%, and traded at 1.08 levels, while the USD/JPY pair continued its decline by 1.06%, reaching 127.85 levels.

Dollar index futures traded down by 0.09% at 101.90.
