Romanians who live in the courtyard and do not respect the law risk stinging fines. In some cases, the amounts go up to 20,000 lei.
It is about the Romanians who burn compostable waste in their own yards.
The burning of leaves, tree trimmings, vegetable remains, manure and compostable waste is prohibited by the Compost Law, which entered into force on February 20, 2021.
According to this law, burning this waste is prohibited, becoming a misdemeanor.
Persons who do not obey the law risk fines between 400 and 800 lei, if they are natural persons.
On the other hand, the fines for legal entities are huge, ranging between 10,000 and 20,000 lei.
The fines are applied by the commissioners of the Environmental Guard.
What do we do with the waste?
According to the law, “separate collection of biodegradable waste intended for composting/anaerobic digestion is mandatory.
Individuals and legal entities that generate biodegradable waste have the obligation to deposit this waste in the indicated spaces or hand it over to authorized operators for their collection”.
