Impressed in Arsenal’s big win
Stina Blackstenius opened Arsenal’s game against Brighton with two goals in two minutes.
But there was no hat-trick in the 4–0 victory.
The crossbar, free-kick miss and a disallowed goal stopped the Swede from becoming a three-goal scorer.
It could have been a hat trick in five minutes for Stina Blackstenius.
The Swedish national team striker got free, rounded the goalkeeper and put the ball into the net after ten minutes of play. However, the Swede was quickly waved off for offside, but the question is, should she have been?
– It really looks like she is onside but there is no VAR in the WSL, says the commentator in Viaplay’s broadcast.
It wasn’t a successful goal that time, but Blackstenius had already shown his scoring potential.
Two goals in two minutes
In the sixth minute, the first goal came when she took a deep run on the left wing, feinted away the defender who fell on the hill and put in 1-0.
Two minutes later it was time again, but this time the goal came a little more. The Brighton defense was sloppy in the passing game and served the ball straight into the gap for Blackstenius. The Swede thanked by advancing a few meters and putting in 2-0.
In the bar
In the 27th minute, Blackstenius came close to finally getting her hat-trick but from close range she headed straight into the crossbar. A minute later, she stood for a solo number, but the ending went in the burgaveln.
Blackstenius also missed a free-kick in the second half and was replaced in the 84th minute.
Arsenal won 4–0 and afterwards she was praised by teammate Victoria Pelova.
– She was so good and will do it (a hat-trick) next time. She has confidence and I would be afraid to play against her. So I’m happy that I play with her and can give her the ball, Pelova told Sky Sports.
In Brighton, Swedes Julia Zigiotti Olme and Emma Kullberg played from the start.
