John de Mol wants Dennis Schouten and Jan Roos to be punished for the statements they made about the De Mol family in their YouTube program Gossip talk. Schouten says that he and Roos must report to the court in Amsterdam on Tuesday because De Mol has started an Article 12 procedure. His lawyer Peter Plasman confirmed this when asked ANP.
Schouten and Roos stated two years ago in a broadcast of Roddelpraat that the De Mol family had bribed witnesses to the alleged abuse of Shima Kaes by her ex Johnny de Mol, the son of John de Mol. De Mol then went to court, who sentenced the YouTubers to 5,000 euros in damages last year. The complaint of libel and slander that De Mol also filed was subsequently dismissed because the public prosecutor no longer saw any reason to take criminal action.

‘Hush money’
However, De Mol considers Gossip Talk’s accusation so serious that he has asked the court to review the complaint. “Libel and slander are the order of the day these days, but if you accuse a family of paying hush money to cover up a crime, then we consider that a serious criminal offense,” says Plasman. “We believe that these gentlemen should be punished for this, not just paying compensation.”

‘Nonsensical’
Plasman says that he has already been to the court on behalf of De Mol to explain their side of the story. On Tuesday it is Schouten and Roos’ turn. When asked, Schouten told the ANP that he found the case “nonsensical”. “It has been two years and the judge has already considered it and ordered us to pay damages.”
