“In recent days, one adapted travel advice after another has tumbled over the other. But this is quite a big damper for us, the holidaymakers and also for business travelers, ”says director Frank Oostdam of branch organization ANVR in the NOS Radio 1 News.
Cancel free of charge
Much is still unclear for the travel organizations. Oostdam initially assumed that people can cancel their trip because the trips can no longer continue. But that turns out to be different because there is force majeure. “There is no right to cancel free of charge, as this is beyond the control of travel organizations. There is a question of force majeure and in such situations, both parties have to share risks and costs, ”says Oostdam. He advises travelers – if applicable – to contact their travel agency or organization about the costs.
“Flying in the United States is a lifeline. That is so important for the Dutch economy and the Dutch aviation sector. We will have to look together to deal with this. This is really dramatic for the Netherlands. ”
