For years, the cabinet has expressed the wish to reduce the number of animal experiments. In practice, however, little of this is achieved. New figures from the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) show that just under 449,000 animal experiments were carried out last year. That is slightly more than last year, and just as many as in 2016. Only in 2015 and 2017 were there more experiments.
