Still many people in Azovstal

The Russian defense ministry has made it known that since May 16, 959 Ukrainian soldiers at the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol have surrendered to the Moscow forces. In the last 24 hours alone, 694 fighters have surrendered, said the ministry’s spokesman, Igor Konashenkov, in a briefing. “In Mariupol, the militants of the nationalist Azov unit and the Ukrainian military trapped in the Azovstal plant have continued to surrender. In the past 24 hours, 694 militants have surrendered, including 29 wounded,” Konashenkov said. The spokesman reported that, since May 16, 959 Ukrainian soldiers, including 80 wounded, in the steel plant have surrendered; of these, 51 were hospitalized in Novoazovsk hospital in the pro-Russian Donetsk People’s Republic.
