Podcast maker GJ Kooijman has been a fan for years, “but you shouldn’t ask me who came fourth in 1984”. Since Duncan Laurence’s Eurovision victory last year, he has been making the podcast Ding-a-dong about the Eurovision song contest. Last year he followed all preparations closely. “It is so sour that it cannot continue this weekend,” says Kooijman.
His podcast allowed him to attend the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time as a member of the press. “We were going to have a drink with fans with podcasts from all over the world. All fans I would see for the first time. You will miss all those encounters now.”
TV-making champion
Nevertheless, the podcast maker likes to look ahead to the Saturday evening show: “The Dutch are simply very good at making television. In recent weeks we have seen more music shows online where musicians make music from home. I think this will be different, really a show, a lot more than a home stream. “
The 41 participants who would participate in the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam this year will be put in the spotlight during the broadcast. All artists bring a personal message and a piece of the clip of their song will be shown. And they will be together Love Shine A Light sing from places all over Europe.
