The FIA has just announced that it will make a decision on Friday over the Right of Appeal that Mercedes submitted earlier this week.
At the São Paulo Grand Prix, Hamilton tried to get past Verstappen, who in turn tried to defend strongly. The drivers briefly ended up next to the track, but were able to continue their way without damage. The stewards saw this as a racing incident and therefore decided not to hand out a penalty. Mercedes did not agree with this and decided to request a ‘Right of Review’ from race management last Tuesday.

The FIA announced on Wednesday evening that a video conference would be held on Thursday afternoon at 3:00 PM Dutch time, at which both Red Bull Racing if Mercedes had to be present. The purpose of this meeting was to determine whether the new evidence is actually relevant enough to start a new investigation. The teams then had to report to the competition management again at 6:00 PM Dutch time.
Friday conclusion
The stewards are currently considering Mercedes’ request. However, it will be a while before we have an official answer. The FIA has announced that a final decision on the request will not be made until Friday.
