Stevie Nicks no longer sees a future in Fleetwood Mac after the death of her bandmate Christine McVie. According to Nicks, McVie, who died in November at the age of 79, cannot be replaced.

“She was my musical soulmate and my best friend, who I spent more time with than any of my friends outside of Fleetwood Mac,” the 75-year-old singer told entertainment website Vulture.

According to Nicks, she and McVie were always in the band together and no one can take her place “right behind the Hammond organ.” “When she died I thought we can’t go on. There’s no reason to do that.”

According to Nicks, the songs that McVie wrote and sang cannot be played by anyone else. “Then we would have to take those songs out of the set, which is something we did when she quit the band earlier.”

McVie joined the rock band in 1970. Nicks followed in 1975. Nicks was not involved with the band for several years in the 1990s. McVie left in 1998, only to return in 2014.
